Focusing on gas powered lawn and garden equipment, commercial power equipment, and more, Matt’s has grown to become one of the more well known, and friendly small engine repair shops in the Twin Cities. Independently owned and operated, Matt’s was started in 2020 to help people in the community with getting and keeping their small engine equipment running and in great condition. Matt’s is dedicated to providing excellent service with a smile and fun, neighborly attitude.
Matt’s is located in St. Anthony, MN and services all of the Twin Cities metro area. We provide pick up and delivery services, loaner programs, storage and lots more for our customers. We work on all brands and years of equipment.
Position: Small Engine Repair Mechanic

Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on gas powered small engine equipment such as oil changes, spark plug replacements, blade sharpening, and filter replacements
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on equipment
- Conduct electrical repairs and troubleshooting
- Weld and solder components as needed
- Perform generator repairs and maintenance
- Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve problems
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and answering questions
- Keep accurate records of repairs and services performed
- Other duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to modify and add to this job description at any time
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Small Engine Mechanic strongly preferred but willing to train the right person.
- Strong technical knowledge and skills
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques
- Proficient in electrical repairs and troubleshooting
- Experience with riding mowers, generator repair (electrical side), hand held (trimmers, back pack blowers, etc.), is a plus
- Ability to use hand tools effectively and efficiently
- Welding and soldering skills are a plus
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- High organizational skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to use/operate all company equipment to perform required tasks
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to commute to and from work.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour Competitive and negotiable
Expected hours: 20 – 25 hours per week
Schedule:
- 5 hour shifts (can be more later on)
- Day shift
- Tuesdays – Saturdays
